I was 14 and taken by our bass player (who was much older then I) and his girlfriend. Same story–I think we three were the only white faces there. I was stunned. It could be said that James Brown got James Brown's dreams started with dreams that sometimes I wonder about. It's all his fault!<br /><br />I do remember, during the concert, A very very good fight broke out in the left cheap seats. The lights came on –the cops came in–some skulls were cracked, and a paddy wagon was promptly filled. Then the lights went back down and the building started heaving up-and-down again. I remember seeing his buses parked outside the "Black hotel". They wouldn't let James and the band stay at the Whitebread Palace.<br /><br />Anyway, good column Randy. No friggin politics!
